Managing Partner & Founder

David Holloway

Former prosecutor with a business & risk management background. Founder and Managing Partner serving small businesses and individuals alike.

Biography & Professional Experience

The founder of Holloway Law, Dave is an experienced, award-winning trial attorney, having tried over 70 cases in his career. He focuses on representing entrepreneurs and small businesses, helping them grow and protect their valuable assets, ideas, and business practices. Dave is also Of Counsel to the Shlansky Law Group, handling their business litigation in Delaware.

Dave also serves as a contract attorney with the Office of the Child Advocate, where he represents children in Delaware who have been placed into foster care. Dave represents these children throughout their entire stay in foster care, and, in some cases, for years beyond that.

Dave began his career as a Deputy Attorney General with the Delaware Department of Justice, where he served as a prosecutor in the Misdemeanor Trial Unit, the New Castle County Felony Trial Unit, and the Wilmington Felony Trial Unit. In addition to his normal caseload, he was also the lead prosecutor for the Drug Diversion Program in the Court of Common Pleas and the Mental Health Program in Superior Court.

After his time as a prosecutor, Dave worked as a Copyright Litigator, where he represented photographers in complex, multi-million dollar Federal lawsuits against large publishing companies.

Dave received his law degree from the Temple University Beasley School of Law, where he focused on Trial Advocacy and public service. His dedication to public service work while at Temple Law earned him induction as a Fellow into the Rubin Public Service Honor Society. While in law school, Dave served as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Ellen M. Ceisler in the Court of Common Pleas of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania, and also interned for the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office. Dave has served as a Guest Lecturer for the Delaware Supplemental Bar Review, where he has lectured on the Rules of Evidence.

Michael DegliObizzi

Experienced criminal trial attorney and former supervising prosecutor, defending constitutional rights across Delaware.

Biography & Professional Experience

Michael is a dedicated criminal trial attorney who has tried over 75 cases to verdict across the Justice of the Peace Courts, Court of Common Pleas, and Superior Court of Delaware. He represents individuals charged with traffic offenses, misdemeanor and felony crimes, Driving Under the Influence (DUI), domestic violence, juvenile offenses, violations of probation (VOP), preliminary hearings, expungements, and governor's pardons.

Michael began his career at the Delaware Department of Justice in the Criminal Division, handling misdemeanor prosecutions and DUI offenses in the Court of Common Pleas and JP Courts, as well as managing the Mental Health Court on behalf of the State. He was quickly promoted to complex felony prosecutions involving financial crimes, burglary, robbery, weapons offenses, drug trafficking, homicides, and gang participation.

In 2016, Michael was promoted to Assistant Unit Head of the Misdemeanor Trial Unit, where he supervised and trained all incoming Deputy Attorneys General in trial advocacy and caseload management. In this role, he personally reviewed every misdemeanor DUI arrest in New Castle County to determine state plea offers. He is certified in DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) by NHTSA and has instructed both police and attorneys on DUI testing standards.

In 2018, Michael was promoted to Unit Head of the Domestic Violence Unit, supervising a multi-disciplinary team handling felony and misdemeanor domestic violence, child abuse, and elder abuse cases. He served on the Fatal Incident Review Team, Victim Services Advisory Committee, and Domestic Violence Coordinating Council committees.

During law school at Villanova, Michael interned for the Honorable Chief Justice Myron T. Steele of the Delaware Supreme Court and at Kimmel, Carter, Roman, Peltz & O'Neill, P.A. He was a Division I varsity wrestler at Duke University, NWCA Academic All-American, and four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member.

Jonathan Harting

Dedicated Family Court practitioner with over 13 years of state and private litigation experience serving clients throughout Delaware.

Biography & Professional Experience

Jonathan Harting joins Holloway Law after having spent over 13 years at the Delaware Department of Justice as a Deputy Attorney General within the Family Division. Prior to leaving the Department of Justice, Jonathan served as the Assistant Unit Head of the Child Protection Unit.

Jonathan focuses his practice on family law, having worked as a full-time litigator in matters of child custody, child dependency, child abuse, and neglect. He has litigated hundreds of cases involving child custody, guardianship, and termination of parental rights (TPR) hearings. He also has extensive experience handling substantiation hearings concerning issues of placement on the Child Protection Registry and has worked on juvenile misdemeanor and felony level criminal law proceedings.

Jonathan has authored numerous appellate briefs and successfully argued complex appeals before the Delaware Supreme Court. He has presented on issues of dependency and neglect for the Delaware State Bar Association's continuing legal education series entitled Fundamentals of Family Law. Prior to becoming a Deputy Attorney General, Jonathan served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jerome O. Herlihy in the Delaware Superior Court.

Jonathan volunteers for the Office of the Child Advocate's Child Attorney program representing children in Division of Family Services (DFS) custody. He earned his law degree from Widener University Delaware Law School and holds a bachelor's degree in history and religion from William & Mary. In his personal time, he is an avid swimmer, cook, and distance runner.

Dean Amburn

Registered Patent Attorney with nearly three decades of intellectual property and civil litigation experience representing startups and Fortune 500 corporations.

Biography & Professional Experience

Dean serves as Of Counsel to Holloway Law, focused on Intellectual Property litigation. He has extensive experience litigating patent, trademark, and trade secret cases across multiple jurisdictions, including United States District Courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC), the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), the Federal Circuit, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and state courts. He works with and has successfully protected many clients' IP rights, including clients involved in "bet-the-farm" commercial disputes.

He prepares and prosecutes patent and trademark applications before the USPTO and PTAB, including appeals, Inter Partes Reviews (IPR), and trademark cancellation and opposition proceedings. Dean also counsels clients regarding IP-related risk mitigation, issuing freedom-to-operate and invalidity opinions.

Dean's publication, IP Strategies for Business Managers, provides practical advice for protecting proprietary IP and avoiding costly infringement claims. He also contributed to the national Thomson Reuters publication, Inside the Minds: Litigation Strategies for Intellectual Property Cases (2012), addressing software patent eligibility, business method patents, trade secrets, and Electronically Stored Information (ESI) discovery.

Dean is the named inventor on four issued U.S. patents relating to electronic securities trading systems: U.S. Patent Nos. 8,788,398, 8,175,956, 7,552,085, and 7,356,499. In his personal time, Dean enjoys traveling with his family, distance running, and restoring his 1969 Dodge Charger RT SE.
